FILEHUB ANALYST GUIDES

How do you build a useful FMCG sales report?

A reliable FMCG report starts with transactions and accurate product and customer mappings. Typical measures include net sales, cases, gross profit, margin, unique customers, coverage, budget and target attainment.

1. Confirm the sales basis

Decide whether to report gross or net revenue, include returns and credits, and define the billing date range. Mixing these creates misleading comparisons.

2. Normalize customers and products

Map source customer codes to approved customer, channel, region and rep fields. Map SKUs to brand, category, supplier and package definitions.

3. Measure revenue, volume and distribution

Calculate total sales and cases, then separately count unique buying customers. Revenue growth and distribution growth are different outcomes.

4. Align targets and budget to the same grain

Targets may live at rep-month, region-month or brand-month level. Join them to grouped actuals, not to every invoice row.

5. Inspect exceptions

Report missing mappings, unidentified SKUs, invalid numbers, duplicate master keys and impossible changes in attributes.

6. Create the reusable reporting workflow

FileHub Analyst’s early build supports mapping and grouped analysis of spreadsheets. Advanced date periods, multi-dimensional pivots and reusable mapping libraries remain on the roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run sales by brand and rep?

The current pilot groups by one selected field at a time. Multi-dimension grouping is planned.

Does it replace a data analyst?

It automates repeatable preparation and calculations; human review remains important for definitions and uncertain mappings.

Prefer to do this without building the formulas?

Upload your Excel file to FileHub Analyst, select the columns and get a report. If your data needs mapping first, you can review matches before exporting.
